Yes, there are TWO kinds of Slack integration! The instructions below connect a Slack Pro or Business+ workspace with ConductorOne so that you can review access data and grant user access to Slack. (We also have an connector for Slack Enterprise Grid accounts.)

If you want to install the ConductorOne Slack app, so that you and your colleagues can request access and get notifications about new ConductorOne tasks in your Slack workspace, go to the Settings page in ConductorOne and click Notifications.

Availability

✅ General availability. The Slack connector is available to all ConductorOne users.

Add a new Slack connector

This task requires either the Connector Administrator or Super Administrator role in ConductorOne.

1. In ConductorOne, open Admin and click Connectors > Add connector.

2. Search for Slack and click Add.

3. Choose whether to add the new Slack connector as a data source to an existing application (and select the app of your choice) or to create a new application.

   Do you SSO into Slack using your identity provider (IdP)? If so, make sure to add the connector to the Slack app that was created automatically when you integrated your IdP with ConductorOne, rather than creating a new app.

1. Set the owner for this connector. You can manage the connector yourself, or choose someone else from the list of ConductorOne users. Setting multiple owners is allowed.

   A Slack connector owner must have the following permissions:

   • Connector Administrator or Super Administrator role in ConductorOne
   • Admin role in your Slack workspace

1. Click Create and add details.

Next steps

• If you are the connector owner, proceed to Configure your Slack connector for instructions on integrating Slack with ConductorOne.

• If someone else is the connector owner, ConductorOne will notify them by email that their help is needed to complete the setup process.

Configure your Slack connector

A user with the Connector Administrator or Super Administrator role in ConductorOne and the Admin role in the Slack workspace must perform this task.

Step 1: Generate a Slack app-level token

1. Make sure you are signed into Slack, then navigate to api.slack.com/apps/.

2. Click Create an App and select the From scratch option.

3. Give your new Slack app a name, such as “ConductorOne integration”, and select the workspace you want to integrate with ConductorOne.

4. Click Create App.

5. Your new app opens. From the menu on the left, select OAuth & Permissions.

6. Scroll down to the Scopes section of the page. In the User Token Scopes area, add the following OAuth Scopes:

   • admin
   • admin.roles:read
   • channels:read
   • identify
   • team:read
   • usergroups:read
   • users:read
   • users:read.email

7. Scroll up to the top of the page. In the OAuth Tokens for Your Workspace area, click Install to Workspace.

8. When prompted, allow your new app to access the Slack workspace.

9. Your user OAuth token is created. Copy the token value. You’ll use it in Step 2.

Step 2: Add your Slack credentials to ConductorOne

1. In ConductorOne, navigate to the Slack connector by either:

   • Clicking the Set up connector link in the email you received about configuring the connector.

   • Navigate to Admin > Connectors > Slack (if there is more than one Slack listed, click the one with your name listed as owner and the status Not connected).

2. Find the Settings area of the page and click Edit.

3. Paste the token you generated in Step 1 into the User token field.

4. Click Save.

5. The connector’s label changes to Syncing, followed by Connected. You can view the logs to ensure that information is syncing.

That’s it! Your Slack connector is now pulling access data into ConductorOne.

Configure the Slack integration using Terraform

As an alternative to the integration process described above, you can use Terraform to configure the integration between Slack and ConductorOne.
